Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Muscular System: The muscular system is an organ system consisting of skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles. It permits movement of the body, maintains posture, and circulates blood throughout the body. Myofascial Pain Syndrome affects the muscular system because it can occur when the muscle is overused or after repeated injury.

Etiology:
- Sensitive areas of tight muscle fibers can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse. These sensitive areas are called trigger points. A trigger point in a muscle can cause strain and pain throughout the muscle. When this pain persists and worsens, doctors call it myofascial pain syndrome.
Fibromyalgia vs Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Although the two can go together, they have frequent overlap and some similar symptoms, they're often mistaken for the same condition. People with both can sometimes only diagnosed with and treated for one.
